Does anyone know if there is a performance difference between using a CASE vs. a DECODE? Is one better than the other?

Hi, In Oracle SQL*Plus there is a HOST command that can be used to display the operating system prompt. From there I can enter operating system commands which do not effect my SQL*Plus session which stays connected to the DB. There doesn't seem to be a HOST command in vsql. Anyone know if there is a...

FUNCTION_DEFINITION column in USER_FUNCTIONS table too small!
The USER_FUNCTIONS table has a column named FUNCTION_DEFINITION. Its data type is VARCHAR(128). I have functions that have more than 128 characters. Is there another admin. table that stores the entire definition?

Creating a sequence without specifying a name?
In the Vertica SQL manual in the the CREATE SEQUENCE section it says "If you do not specify a sequence_name, HP Vertica assigns an internally generated name in the current schema."
