Hello All,

What is the maximum number of k-safety value we can configure.

Lets say I have a 10 node cluster, what will be the best k-safety and what will be the max k-safety

Thanks

What do you guys think about leaving k safety at 1 when the number of nodes > 4?

After we had 2 nodes down in our 8 node environment, I've always wanted to go to K-safety of 2.

I know they exist, but we typically don't recommend K=2 because the ROI just really isn't there. If you really demand 100% uptime, a DR solution is your best alternative, vs. adding that much more data into your existing cluster.

We briefly went to k-safety 2 and pretty hastily beat a retreat back to 1. I/O performance took a bit of a hit at 2 and thinking it through, even at 1, you can have more than 1 node go down (depending on which node it it). When I taked to Vertica support, they recommended avoiding 2 as well.
