I was reading the Vertica documentation and got to this point
--diferent type of license :
• Term-based (valid until a specific date)
• Raw data size based (valid to store up to some amount of raw data)
• Both term-based and data-size-based
• Unlimited duration and data storage
- can somebody put thins in more detail for me , and which could be better for a long term use.

Basic answer --
-Term is cheaper up front but if you keep renewing you will spend more in the long term
-Perpetual is more expensive up front but there is no recurring fee
