error determining the active database

I cannot run database designer, which gives me error message"spread error, restart?".
When I try to restart the vertica on Host, I get "error determining the active database, so no hosts can be restarted"
Anyone has any idea? Thanks!

Can you upload the log file somewhere for vertica and DBD? Also, can you try restarting the spread deamon? (/etc/init.d/spreadd restart) -- as root

Hi!
Sometimes spread do not start automatically, in such case, as juniorfoo wrote, you have to start it manually:

# /etc/init.d/spreadd {status|start|restart}

Thanks guys. After restarting spreadd, I was able to restart vertica. Thanks again.
