Copying the Database to Another Cluster

Post by kodakalla » Tue Jul 22, 2014 8:38 am

I want to copy vertica database from test cluster to qa cluster. Test and QA have different number of nodes.
Vertica documentation says we should have same number of nodes for this copy to work.

https://my.vertica.com/docs/7.0.x/PDF/H ... sGuide.pdf

Are there any other workarounds to make this happen? If there are none, I think this will be a severe limitation as we may not always have same
number of nodes across different regions.
Thx,
Giri

Maybe you can look into the EXPORT TO VERTICA functionality?

Agreed with Skwa,

Lets not call it a limitation, it is part of smart design of product's Backup and Restore feature.

And for the workaround , Vertica gives this feature / tool to export your data from one cluster to another, using Export to Vertica options.

Hope this helps
