Hello,
We currently have a large Oracle and SQL Server install base. As our data grows, unbelievably so in the past few months, we are seeing worse and worse performance from our dashboards (We use Tableau).
A colleague recommended that we look into Vertica. Another colleague says we should abandon Tableau. Can someone who has had experience with this offer any comments?
I'm not a tech person myself, but I manage the team. I am simply looking for alternatives.
Degrading performance from Oracle and SQL Server

Re: Degrading performance from Oracle and SQL Server
Many of my clients use Tableau with Vertica. They work well together. The foundation for success is having a good data model that supports good performance in Vertica.
The pattern that I’ve seen with Tableau is that when the database isn’t performing well - whether it be Oracle, SQL Server, or Vertica with data model issues - that users will create many extracts and can overwhelm the Tableau server.
