Accessing Vertica database using VMWare vShpere 4.0 (OVF)

Post by emery5309 » Thu Apr 16, 2015 7:04 pm

Hi,

I installed the VMWare vShpere 4.0 (OVF) file vertica-esx4-7.1.1-0.64.zip. Say the VM host name is Server_A (10.10.17.2). I created the vMart demo database. Now I am trying to access the database running on Server_A from a separate VM, Server_B (10.10.17.3). Note I copied the vsql from Server_A to Server_B.

From Server_B I try:

Code: Select all

vsql -h 10.10.17.2 -U dbadmin
vsql: could not connect to server: No route to host
Is the server running on host "10.10.17.2" and accepting
        TCP/IP connections on port 5433?
Is the issue that the database on Server_A configured using a host IP address of 127.0.0.1?

Are your network adapters configured for the machines to communicate with each other?
Checkout vertica.tips for more Vertica resources.

May I know the specifications that I will need to access Vertica using vShpere 4.0?
