This question has been published in Informatica Connection Board several minutes ago, but it seems not so many persons access that board, so I re-publish it here again. Sorry if it disturb you~
Hi Guys,
Is there some one who can help me answer below questions:
If I want to use Informatica (server installed in HP UX) to load some data to a table in Vertica, is there some difference when create connection to the DB if the Veritica is installed on HP-UX or Linux Operating System (another server, not the server Informatica installed)?
Thanks a lot for your kind reply!

Re: Informatica connection to Vertica
Hi DolphinLei,
I do not believe that Veritica can be installed on HP-UX. These are the supported operating systems:
64-bit operating systems on x86, x64 architecture:
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and 6
• SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 and 11
• Oracle Enterprise Linux 6 (Red Hat Compatible Kernel only)
• Debian Linux 5* and 6
• CentOS 5 and 6
Currently, the Vertica plug-in for PowerCenter is write-only. If you need to use Vertica as a data source, you will need to use a generic ODBC connection. Page 537 of the 6.1 Programmer's Guide starts a section called "Using Informatica PowerCenter".
I hope this helps a little

Hi Kincely,
Thanks a lot for your help. I also consulted others after asked this question here. Yes, your answer is very exact.
Vertica is my data source, as well as target. Our flow is like that:
zip file-->Vertica STG tables-->Vertica reporting tables
Could you please give me some more information about "Page 537 of the 6.1 Programmer's Guide starts a section called "Using Informatica PowerCenter" "? Where is the Programmer's Guide ? Is it published in our Forum?
Regards,
Dolphin
